Cantina Giba was founded in 2013 and now runs an estate of about fifteen hectares in Sulcis, the southwestern area of Sardinia. The wine comes from \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"\u003ecentenarian\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"\u003e Carignano vines raised with the ancient tree form near the coast, on sandy, poor, loose and very well-drained soils located in the localities of Porto Pino, Calasetta, Giba and Sant'Antioco. The climate is dry and hot, typically Mediterranean, cooled only by sea breezes and the presence of the mistral, which blows from the northwest. Under these particular conditions, the vine produces few clusters per plant but of remarkable richness and aromatic concentration. Harvesting takes place towards the end of September, and fermentation is started with indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with maceration on the skins lasting a few weeks. Intense and rich, it gives a bouquet characterized by scents of Mediterranean maquis herbs, myrtle leaves, thyme, rosemary, aromas of small dark berries, especially blackcurrants, blueberries, wild blackberries, delicate spicy nuances and hints of liquorice root. Enveloping and harmonious, it has dense fruit and a dense, ripe tannic texture, giving the sip body and structure.
